a month on ...

hello hello! it's been a long long month! so many things has happened ever since the last posting ...

came home to kl to celebrate chinese new year! it was a blast! gambling for 13 days of the 15 chinese new year days ... eat, play, sleep ... the bestest ever ... minus the $ losses (which was horrendous on my part!)

then it was back to work work work ... never ending sight of work, company after company ... until now i'm confused sometimes ...

reformatted my clogged up pc ... yea pics are all va-moosh from my hdd now..dat's why this posting has no pics! :(

also celebrated my bifdei! yea yea ... older wiser as a girlfren of mine told me ... wiser yes... older ... NEVA! ;p

plus lotsa mahjong sessions man.. all week long ... i think my fren's are addicted! OMG! hehe but its great fun ... u get so tense, excited till u sweat! hahaha... who says mahjong isn't a physical game!

lion dance in kuching!

chinese new year comes early in kuching!

there were 2 lions and a 9-man dragon dancing on the streets of kuching town ... imagine i'm staying on the 11th floor and its so loud! the whole dong dong chang dong dong chang was on for at least 20mins and did u know, the drum beat is different for a lion dance and a dragon dance?! oohh wahh

this whole weekend, they've even closed half the roads for the cny nite market and stage show ... they take cny celebrations really seriously here :p

gosh they've started dong dong chang again! it's like a mini concert downstairs ... i hope they don't start karaoke!

more kuching food!

i had kueh chap - its so delicious! thinly sliced smooth rice cake, lean pork meat (u can have some with fats, intestines), beancurd & egg in yummy soup ... reminds me of bak kut teh ... i'll put up a pic soon!

the weirdest thing i've had is called 'mani lui sa' or hakka lui ha ... it's a bowl of rice with 3/4 kinds of vegie and peanuts ... what's so weird about a bowl of vegie? ... the soup! it came in a separate bowl - thank goodness! its many sorts of vegie blended into this soup which is bitter and smells yucks! ... apparently all 1st timers who try dis soup will haf the same reaction as me ... cringe facial expression ... weirdest gross soup ever! but it's the healthiest bowl of rice i've had since i came to kuching hehehe

kolo mee, damai, riverside

today was raining quite a bit here... managed to catch a ride to damai beach... luckily i managed to walk on the beach n around before it rained like cats & dogs! then it was back to kuching town. do u know u can walk the whole riverbank end-to-end in 30mins! i even went to the wet market (yup it's as dirty n messy like back home!).
i tried kolo mee the other day .. its a bit like instant noodles (tho jason my kuching colleague sez if its instant noodles it's not kolo mee!) in garlic & sesame & soy sauce & some sweet red sauce (makes the whole thingy reddish!) .. .very simple food n nice .. plus i found out there's a branch in taman megah! will go home n check it out.
sarawak vegie - midin is yummy! everyone who comes here must try it!

lunch today - laksa sarawak ... yup i ate laksa ... i dun eat laksa at home but i had some today ... errmm its cooked with vermicilli n its not the sour kind of soup ... hhmm i dunno, i dun eat dat much laksa to compare but i think its ok.
tea today - pineapple cheese tart ... errmm...
diner today - "nude crab burger" at D'Alif by the waterfront ... its not too bad .. not great ... i think original crabs still the best la!
is there any other local food i haven't tried yet??

kuching ... meow meow

i'm in the land of cats ... kuching, sarawak!
just found out there's wi-fi in my hotel room ... weee ... go somerset!
also just had a taste of some local food ... tomato kuey teow (apparently only in kuching u get this not in kl). its kinda interesting ... where u get fried kuey teow (or bee hoon or mee) and there's some starchy tomato sauce poured over it ... then there's some tomato after taste to the noodles. next thing to try is kolo noodles!

i'm in melbourne!

just got back from hobart after a 3 day trip! very very nice trip ... flew in to launceston early in the morning ... 6.30am! gosh .. who wakes up dat early rite ... took a drive all the way to hobart mate! making lotsa stops along the way ... chocolate factory, raspberry farm, cadbury factory which was closed for the xmas holidays (for 2 freaking long weeks!) ... we also took a ghost tour at port arthur last nite ... nope no ghosts! damn it hahaha... but luckily we got gorgeous harbour view hotel so pretty! we zoom zoom in a nissan pulsar ... man some scary rides

but our flight back to melbourne was delayed for 3 hours ... n we got a freaking scary cabbie! my god ... thank goodness i'm home now ... need to go zzz! till later alligator :p

this is "Bak Chee" my new buddy :) ... got him yesterday (thx wy!) ... wy says he look like bak chee dats how he got his name hahaha. i've been feeding him songs. he knows how to bark, whine ... seriously seek for attn ... cute bugger

lookie ... hello kitty, doraemon, garfield spongcake ... all sorts of cartoon characters made from eggs and flour. bought a doraemon from the pasar malam n chomped his head off! hahaha quite a fun way to kill a cartoon character if u hate 'em ... just bite their heads off (evil laugh ^o^)

mini bike

the latest craze .. mini bike! i rode dis last nite!
zoom zoom in front my my house at 12am .. luckily the neighbours din complain :p its really tiny (don't be deceived by the foto), fits rite into ur car back seat! remember dumb & dumber when the 2 guys were in aspen on a tiny bike? dats how small it is. i think i got up to 30 kph ... not bad 4 a first timer eh. who wants to get one? we can go racing on the tracks :)

durian bomb

this is a durian bomb! some of u might not like the taste of durian but u gotta try dis even if u dislike it! from a old fashion coffee shop in karak ... it now has expanded its outlets across west msia ... other notable things to try are egg tarts, durian tarts, bachang (once of the most expensive i've ever had but really huge) and their noodles is quite good too :p

today marks the passing of a dear good friend.

puking binge downtown

last thursday was the most interesting experience in kl city ... i was sitting at the hawker stalls next to hong leong bank ... near beach club during lunch hour. suddenly, i went green and feeling cold sweat, next thing i know, i was puking by the roadside for almost 1 hour. i was later diagnose as having food poisoning (minor by my standards-coz i work the whole weekend after)
people were just walking pass me as if nothing extraordinary is happening ... just another drunk person puking by the roadside ... hello ppl, its lunch time, working clothes!
after visiting the doctor (my dear colleagues had to drive me round the block-wat will i do without them, they were eating lunch while i was puking next to them) ... whilst walking back to the office, i puked again (the last of the milo) - this time it was the walkway thru menara IMC ... hehehe.. don't worry i did it in a plastic bag & threw it in the bin outside menara prudential. then there was another puking session at home (no more milo just water ... colour n smell differs!)
now dis is wat i call paint the town red! (tho it wasnt quite pretty) :p
